[Washington, D.C.] International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) President Tim Driscoll issued the following statement today:

“For over 90 years, the Davis-Bacon Act has played an important role in ensuring that federal construction projects respect locally-negotiated wages and working conditions. However, over the last four decades the Act has been degraded by regulatory changes. Today, the Biden Administration significantly strengthened the Act to restore the standards originally intended when the bill passed to ensure that the federal government upholds local wage standards in communities across our country.

“BAC applauds Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and the Biden Administration for moving forward with this final rule, and for continuing to put workers first. This action will protect local wage and benefit standards from unscrupulous employers, and ensure that construction workers, especially those in rural and less-affluent areas, are paid fair wages for their work.”
