[Washington, D.C.] – International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers President Timothy Driscoll issued the following statement this Election Day:

Democracy is the foundation of our government – one created by the people, and for the people. Our system only works when citizens hold their elected officials accountable for prioritizing the needs of all, especially the workers who make our nation great. Accordingly, BAC encourages every eligible American to cast their ballot.

We stand with our brothers and sisters in the labor movement in denouncing any form of violence, intimidation, or harassment of the poll workers and volunteers whose work is essential to free and fair elections. BAC will do its part to protect our democracy, make sure every vote is counted, and our laws are enforced.

Accuracy, not speed, is what matters most to ensure that the winner of the presidency is the person whom Americans have chosen with our collective voice. Once a winner is clear, we will do our part to make sure that the President-elect is able to take their oath of office next January without anti-democratic interference, and to ensure the peaceful transfer of power essential for our republic to endure as a beacon to all nations.
