About Us
Aloha and welcome to BAC Local 1 Hawaiʻi. Since 1865, the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) has proudly represented the finest skilled tradespeople throughout the United States and Canada. Our membership includes bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, tile setters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, pointers, cleaners, caulkers, and refractory craftworkers. As the oldest continuously operating union in North America, BAC carries forward a legacy of craftsmanship, integrity, and solidarity.
Here in Hawaiʻi, Local 1 is committed to carrying on that tradition by investing in our members and strengthening our island communities. Through our apprenticeship programs and advanced training opportunities, including those offered in partnership with the International Masonry Institute, we prepare our members with the skills needed to deliver first-class work while building rewarding careers.
Safety and education are at the heart of everything we do. We believe every member should return home safely at the end of the day, and we continuously provide training that keeps our workforce among the most qualified and safety-conscious in the industry.
At BAC Local 1 Hawaiʻi, we take pride in the spirit of ohana—looking out for one another, supporting our contractors, and building projects that stand the test of time across our islands. From commercial developments to schools, hotels, and community landmarks, our members bring dedication, professionalism, and true island pride to every job.
Our mission is simple: to help our contractor partners succeed by providing the safest, most productive, and highest quality craftworkers in Hawaiʻi.
Together, we’re building a stronger future for our members, our industry, and our communities.
